Week II Blog 2

The rest of the week went by pretty quickly. I did a lot of independent work on my model dorm room project. I have a few things left to work on over the next week, but I think it is coming together pretty nicely! I focused a lot on the bathroom this week. I am planning on continuing the mid-century modern theme I have going on. I found this awesome peel and stick wallpaper for the bathroom. The wallpaper is shiplap which I think looks really nice in a bathroom. I am trying to find matte black hardware to pull the entire look together. I found this super cool mirror at Home Depot that has an LED strip around it and it will not fog up. I thought that the no fog part would be nice to have in a dorm bathroom. I will be continuing the vinyl wood flooring into the bathroom as well. As far as countertops go, I am still undecided. Most of the ones I like are super expensive, and not in my budget. I think by the end of this week I will have all my components ready for my design boards. I will be doing two different board ideas because I am indecisive. I will have one board that features white furniture and another board that features dark brown/black furniture. I think that sometimes all white furniture comes off as "too feminine" so I wanted to create a space that has a "less feminine" option as well. I will have another Zoom check-in with my mentor mid-week to make sure I have everything I need to put my design boards together! At the very end, I will also need to find some decorative elements for the model dorm rooms. I think that this part will be the hardest because it has to be simple and muted decor. I cannot really decorate the room as I would if it was my own because these are model dorm rooms, not my personal dorm room. I think I will still throw in some decor ideas I have for my personal dorm room to illustrate my creative side as well as show my appreciation for other forms of art.
